The funds for the Lift products may be deducted only in case the user has activated the subscription and confirmed the purchase via the Apple-ID account or by entering the payment details. It is technically not possible to charge the account without user's confirmation.
So, such situation may occur in case you have accidentally activated the subscription and therefore haven't cancelled it on time or simply have a subscription for another service.
